Our History

Merkanooka Haulage was born from the vision of owner James Yewers, who saw an opportunity to expand his family’s farming business and apply his knowledge of haulage to the mining industry. With a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship, James took a bold step in 2011, establishing a haulage agreement to transport iron ore from the nearby Karara Mine to Geraldton Port.

This strategic move enabled Merkanooka to bridge two of Western Australia’s largest industries – farming and mining – marking the beginning of a new chapter for the company. Since then, James has expanded Merkanooka’s fleet with heavy vehicles and trailers, built an experienced team, and developed a reputation for delivering exceptional services 24/7 to mining and agricultural clients alike.

Our History

Merkanooka Haulage was born when owner James Yewers saw an opportunity to expand his family’s farming business, specifically the use of trucks to transport crops, to the mining industry.

An innovator and entrepreneur at heart, James Yewers seized an opportunity to expand his family’s farming business in 2011 by establishing a haulage agreement to transport iron ore from the nearby Karara Mine to Geraldton Port.

This saw their haulage portfolio span two of the largest industries in Western Australia, Farming and Mining, and the origin of Merkanooka Haulage. Since then, James has significantly expanded his fleet of heavy vehicles and trailers, appointed an experienced team and now services a multitude of mining and agricultural clients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
